Youth Leadership Council

MMP’s Youth Leadership Council

The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) brings together a diverse group of high school students from across the state, providing them with an opportunity to actively participate in the legislative process and contribute their insights to our policy goals. Through a train-the-trainer model, MMP will develop and empower these young individuals as community activists. This approach not only encourages youth to use their voices for systemic change but also equips them with the skills to support their peers in becoming advocates.

Jorel

Hello! My name is Jorel Chavez-Green and I’m from Boston, MA. I am an active member of my school community as a Student Council Representative. I enjoy playing sports such as soccer and basketball with friends and listening to music. I joined YLC to learn how to effectively advocate for myself and others in my community.

Naomi

Second Year Member

Hello! My name is Naomi D’Souza, and I am a senior from Chelmsford High School. Apart from being a varsity track & field and swim athlete, I’m very passionate about giving back to my community through Lowell General Hospital’s Volunteering Team, GIVE and Interact clubs at school, and providing music for the Archdiocese of Boston and elderly homes. I also currently lead this years’ NHS chapter as recording secretary. I joined the YLC to break out of my own comfort zone in terms of using my voice for others and encourage youth that their voice is truly heard and can make a lasting impact. My experiences inspired me to exercise my practice of advocacy for eating disorders and initiate a youth-led nonprofit: All Bodies Coalition (ABC). In the future, I plan to major in biomedical engineering on a pre-med track and continue striving to make positive change.
