The Essentials: Training for Youth-Serving Providers Who Mentor Black Young Men

Through a grant awarded by The Black Male Advancement Office, MMP welcomes the Essentials Curriculum Mentor Training:

MMP is excited to invite curriculum specialists from MENTOR affiliates, Marcus Strother and LaNelle Ramey to facilitate a 9-hour 2-day training session, which will consist of three modules requiring:

Examination of cultural competencies, including an exploration of personal views on privilege and race, providing tools for building ethnic/racial pride.

Identification of social capital and related empowerment of mentee and family, and the importance of racial identity.

Exploration of research-based strategies and approaches that can assist mentors as they embrace a critical consciousness in their work with young Black males.

Lunch will be provided*

This training will be 2 days.

10:00AM – 4:00PM on Monday, May 20th

10:00AM – 4:00PM on Tuesday, May 21st.
