Since 2006, Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) has been conducting a survey of the mentoring field to capture the most accurate and complete snapshot of youth mentoring in Massachusetts. The data collected from MASS MENTORING COUNTS has supported MMP and programs to better tell the Massachusetts mentoring story to funders, stakeholders and people across the state. This data allows us to develop greater support of the mentoring movement and increase resources to enhance and expand mentoring as a strategy for positive youth outcomes. The success of Mass Mentoring Counts has always been due to the contributions of the field – the fact that YOU and many other programs completed our survey.
THIS YEAR’S FOCUS:
At Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP), we are constantly striving to provide meaningful professional development and networking opportunities, advocating for more investment in mentoring programs, and working to promote the great mentoring happening in our communities. This year we are teaming up with MENTOR National to learn more about the needs of the mentoring workforce. This survey will gather information about those who work in mentoring programs or other organizations that offer mentoring services to young people. We will be able to collect specific Massachusetts data and compare it to the national landscape.
We hope to hear from everyone – executive leadership, program coordinators and administrative staff – about successes in your role, the challenges you and your organization face, and the types of professional growth and learning opportunities you’d like to see MMP deliver in the future. The magic of mentoring can’t happen without YOU – the dedicated professionals!
If you work in a mentoring program, we’d appreciate if you could take just 15 minutes to complete this important survey!
Please share this with all staff involved in running your mentoring program.
As a thank you, MENTOR National’s office is offering respondents in our state the chance to participate in a national drawing:
• Ten individuals will win a $100 cash prize
• Ten individuals will win a copy of the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™
• Five individuals will win a $50 Starbucks gift card
• Five individuals will win a $50 credit to the MENTOR Store for clothing and accessories
We need to hear your voice at this critical moment in time. This information will allow us to advocate for your work and ensure that mentoring in our communities remains strong and sustainable. Please complete the survey and encourage your coworkers and colleagues to do the same so that we can tell a meaningful story about the needs of mentoring professionals across our state!

On June 22, 2022, we presented the enlightening results of the 2022 Mass Mentoring Counts survey. Since its beginning in 2006, this biennial survey has provided a snapshot of the state of structured mentoring programs in Massachusetts. This year’s study focuses on the impact that the COVID 19 pandemic has had on mentoring relationships in the Commonwealth, and it provides a detailed look into how the pandemic has affected structured mentoring programs–their staff, their mentors, the young people they serve, and their financial security.
