Checking In: One Month as VP!

By: Hannah St. Laurent

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since Phillip Page joined the Mass Mentoring Partnership team—and what a month it’s been! Phillip has jumped right in with warmth, insight, and a deep commitment to strengthening the Mentoring Movement across Massachusetts. To celebrate this milestone, we sat down with him for a quick Q&A to learn more about what inspires him, what excites him about the work ahead, and what mentorship has meant in his own life.

Q: What has stood out to you as a defining characteristic of the “Mentoring Movement”?

Phillip:
For me, a defining characteristic of the Mentoring Movement is the belief that it takes a village to uplift our youth and to strengthen our communities. When individuals choose to mentor, they help build a caring culture that extends far beyond a single one-to-one relationship. A Movement that nurtures and inspires individuals to engage each other in meaningful ways will ultimately deepen and enrich the broader fabric of the communities it serves.

Q: What brought you to MMP in the first place? What excites you most about this work?

Phillip:
From the start, my career has been driven by a desire to serve those who have been limited or denied access to equal opportunities—whether in their physical environment or their professional aspirations. I recognized the value of mentorship early in my own growth, and it has quietly shaped my professional journey for many years. I am genuinely excited to join MMP and to become an active participant in a Movement that has played such an important role in shaping who I am today.

Q: What is something you have learned from a mentor or mentee that has stayed with you?

Phillip:
I’ve learned many lessons from both mentors and mentees in my life. The most impactful and lasting one has been the importance of gratitude. Our accomplishments can be measured in material ways, but appreciation can be shared freely—and its value is truly immeasurable.

As Phillip settles into his role, we’re energized by the clarity, compassion, and purpose he brings to our mission. His reflections remind us why the Mentoring Movement matters—and how powerful it can be when caring adults come together to uplift young people across Massachusetts. We’re grateful to have Phillip on the MMP team and can’t wait to see the impact we’ll create together in the months ahead!
