DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERELocation: Framingham Public LibraryLexington St.\, Framingham\, MA \nDuring this training\, participants will learn what implicit bias is\, how it shows up in real-time\, and what we can do to counteract our own biases. It is important for us to understand our own implicit bias\, as it will allow us to meet young people where they are at\, giving space for them to build their story unclouded by our judgments. Additionally\, we will discuss and build skills\, knowledge\, and strategies to create a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth. Participants will learn key terms and the difference between sexual orientation and gender\, as well as the types of discrimination LGBTQ youth experience in Massachusetts. At the end of the session\, participants will learn best practices and develop action plans for their organizations to best support LGBTQ youth.  \n Questions? This is especially true during adolescence\, a crucial period for developing and maintaining healthy habits. Some young people are at greater risk of mental health conditions due to their living conditions\, stigma\, discrimination or exclusion\, or lack of access to quality support and services. A supportive adult presence – that allows for a shared connection and vulnerability – contributes to positive growth and adaptation\, especially during a pandemic.  \nCome and learn how to promote resiliency among young people in this virtual training.  \n Join us for a brand new offering from Mass Mentoring Partnership: Mentor Circles will run every third Thursday evening of most months (dates will be adjusted if holidays interfere.) Mentor Circles are virtual\, off-hours opportunities to connect with other mentors\, build knowledge\, and practice skills related to being the best mentor you can be. Topics will vary. You are welcome as often as you can join us.
