DESCRIPTION:Lunch & Learn Sessions – meet the third Tuesday of each month. The event may take the form of networking\, a time to get deeper in conversation with others who value and support mentoring relationships or they may offer short spurts of information on updated research\, happenings and/or tools. We welcome you as often as you can join us. \n  \nThe purpose of this session is to demystify the process by which state government functions and to encourage civic participation by programs and their participants. MMP’s Advocacy session supports individuals to develop their personal policy and advocacy skills to become more civically engaged citizens and effective advocates for the issues they care about. This session is a free skill and professional development opportunity open to anyone interested in attending. While the session is tailored to programs that support mentoring relationships\, the skills and issues covered in this training can be applied universally to educate\, advocate\, and effectively influence policymaking. \n  \nJoin us for an engaging discussion as we hear from two of our Mentoring Matching Grants recipients as they share their experiences as youth advocates. They will discuss the importance of advocacy for mentoring programs at the state level alongside one of the most influential lobbyists in the state on behalf of the Charles Group Lobbying Firm. \n  \nREGISTER

DESCRIPTION:2023 Youth Mentoring Day at the State House\nYouth Mentoring Day is a unique opportunity to convene legislators\, youth-serving programs\, and young people at the State House to highlight and celebrate the importance of mentoring relationships. We will learn how investing in youth can help students succeed in academics and the workplace while strengthening our communities. \n  \nAgenda:\n9:30 AM – Registration \n10:30 AM – Program begins \n12:00 PM – Lunch/Meetings with Elected Officials* \n1:00 PM -4:00 PM – Meetings with Elected Officials* \n  \n*We will be scheduling legislative visits after lunch. Please indicate during registration if you would like to visit your legislator as part of Youth Mentoring Day. We will be in touch with the specifics\, but visits are dependent on availability and are not guaranteed. \n  \nDress Code: Participants should come as they are!
