Many youth in our communities have experienced trauma, the effects of which can be long-lasting and create barriers to forming relationships with supportive adults. This three hour training will introduce principles of trauma informed practices to apply in your programs. With a targeted focus on Lynn, participants will learn how to recognize signs of trauma in youth and learn initial strategies to create or adapt programming to be more trauma informed. This training is an excellent introduction to trauma informed practices and will be followed in May by Strategies for Trauma Awareness, a full day training that will explore the principles in depth and provide actionable strategies to support youth and volunteers.
You’ll walk away with the ability to:
- Recognize some of the major signs of trauma in the youth
- Assess program practices with a lens for trauma awareness
This training is best for:
- Program staff from youth-serving organizations
