Many youth in our communities have experienced trauma, the effects of which can be long-lasting and significant, creating barriers to forming relationships with supportive adults. With a better understanding of trauma and its impact on youth, program staff can structure programming that is trauma-informed and better identify and prepare volunteers to support youth . Participants will receive the MMP Strategies for Trauma Awareness Workbook to support their learning.

You’ll walk away with the ability to:

  • Recognize some of the major signs of trauma in the youth
  • Organize programming to be supportive of youth who have experienced trauma
  • Apply strategies to support adults  to work with youth that have experienced trauma
  • Leverage the resilience possessed by youth to help them through adverse childhood experiences

This training is best for:

  • Program staff from youth-serving organizations
  • Agency leadership interested in applying a lens for trauma awareness into their organization
