Congratulations to Raw Art Works (RAW) for their recent move to Partner Level in our Quality Based Membership program. Located in the city of Lynn, RAW not only hosts a mentoring program, Project Launch, but also engages with youth in many other ways, including college preparedness and workforce development.  Project Launch  is a program for current RAW teens that begins in the spring of their junior year. Mass Mentoring Partnership and the Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring hosted the 10th annual Youth Mentoring Day at the State House on January 21. This year's theme was The Mentoring Movement: The Road to Relationships. During the program, the Ambassadors of Mentoring highlighted four examples of how mentoring and empowering youth-adult relationships affect so many lives. In 2014, Mass Mentoring Partnership joined with Mayor Walsh and the City of Boston to create the Mayor's Mentoring Movement, an initiative to recruit 1,000 new volunteers to serve as caring adults in the lives of Boston youth. We've worked with our mentoring program partners to recruit nearly 600 mentors so far.  Last summer, we launched a contest to help develop a logo for the Mayor's Mentoring Movement that would represent the relationships that are being created through this initiative. Nate Baum is Manager of Training and Technical Assistance at Mass Mentoring Partnership. This summer, I had the honor to be among 25 attendees to participate in the 2015 Summer Institute on Mentoring at Portland State University. The Summer Institute is a week long seminar that convenes researchers, practitioners and other professionals in the world of youth mentoring to engage in a series of presentations, discussions and knowledge sharing around a particular theme. We recently launched our public awareness campaign to promote the Mayor's Mentoring Movement, an initiative with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to recruit 1,000 new mentors to serve Boston youth. The campaign shows real mentors who have joined the movement and are helping to support and guide young people in Boston.
